On our last day in Mallorca, we woke up early and went out to see the Lighthouse of Cap de Formentor. You have to be back from the lighthouse by 10am because they close the road to just the transit bus and bicycles. The road was another crazy windy road – vey fun to drive.

One of the things that was not aware of was the extent that Mallorca and it crazy mountain roads are a cycling destination – the roads where windy narrow and crowded with bicycles, motorcycles, cars, and tour buses – every curve of the road was a mystery and you need to be constantly vigilant.

The lighthouse is still functional. Unfortunately, we were not able to break Elliott and I’s daily lighthouse record – Two more lighthouses???

After visiting the lighthouse, we returned to Palma and explored a bit. There was art all over the place in a way that was different than other cities. It was very cool to walk around but it was raining off and on and super hot. This made it 100% humidity.

Given the weather, we grabbed lunch at El Perrito – it was just a nice neighborhood cafe. We decided to head early to the airport and catch an earlier flight to Barcelona.

The airport was a bit of an adventure. We hung out a bit and then found our gate – 88. Then they told everyone to go to gate 99 – the problem was that gate 99 was the only one in the airport not setup for departures. They realized this, sent us all back to 88. We finally get on the plane and end up sitting for over an hour waiting for clearance to take off. It turned out Barcelona was had cut their landings to 1/3 of the normal rate due to weather. We finally made it around the time our original flight was supposed to land. All of this was better because our original flight was nearly 4 hours late. So we were able to still get to the hotel (H10 Madison) and dinner…with a nice view from their roof top restaurant
