Elliott and I decided to head to Spain – he had a spot between college orientation and move-in day. Spain has always been fun and we thought it would be fun. We will meet up with another friend and explore the south of Spain mostly. In a funny coincidence, we are leaving 1 year to the day after we got back from Oregon.

Today is just the start of the travel – before we left for the airport, our flight was delayed an hour (we had a connection through Boston). We decided to get there early and try to catch the earlier flight.

It turned out to be a good thing. While the flight we got on involved waiting two hours on the tarmac for them to route planes around weather, we still arrived with 15 minutes to make our connection. Enough time to grab Shake Shack and hustle across the airport. The last time I checked, our original flight was scheduled to leave DCA 30 minutes after our Madrid flight left Boston.

After a bit of a stressful start we had made it and were ready to wake up in Spain.
