Nostalgia and Oregon

August 17, 2025

After some work calls and home calls, we got our day started. We had a lovely breakfast at the Pearl Inn. Then we drove to Astoria…The film capital of Oregon.

The most important film…of course – Goonies.

The Goonies house

Last time I was in Astoria, people were not allowed to approach the Goonies house, that has been relaxed and we got to take a quick peek.

We stopped by the Oregon Film Museum (which is 100% Goonies) – it was as a quick hit but we did see Goonies stuff.

From there we checked out the Columbia Maritime Museum – it was interesting but the most important thing was…another lighthouse!!! Well part of it.

After Astoria, we made our way to Cannon Beach and then on to our lodging.

Cannon Beach

My goal was to find tidal pools but the tides did not cooperate. We tried some different beaches and found some small stuff but did not find the big stuff.

Our quick hit tidal pools

We moved on to our lodging at Two Capes Lookout. It is an amazing view and we got upgraded to a mirror cabin.

We grabbed dinner and got back for the sunset. It was remarkable and checked off another item in our scavenger hunt.

Overall it was a great day. One more full day and then back to reality. after it all, we sat by the fire and enjoyed the night. A great end to a nice day.
