This has been a long and crazy summer. Changes on so many fronts. We are starting a major renovation, new septic tank at the farm house, and lots of changes on the job front.
On a bit of a whim I decided to take a trip – Southern Italy. I am meeting a friend over there and we will see what adventures we can cook up. We are not entirely sure what we will get up to but I am looking forward to relaxing, enjoying food, and seeing some cool stuff. Mary Frances has graciously created the space for me to be able to do this and I am gonna try and make the best of it!
Earlier this year, Owen and I went around the world and I had planned most of the details. This time it is just two flights, a couple of train rides and a rental car (or two) … even as of now, there are still a lot of unknowns.
I flew out of Dulles this time (direct flight for the win) – that meant however not only was I in the terminal that more closely resembles a bus station than a modern airport but I also still did not get to experience the Chesapeake lounge – one day I will see what is so great about that lounge.
Given security was quick and I had sometime to kill, I wanted to make sure I set the baseline for pizza that Italy has to live up to.

It is safe to say Naples does not have a high bar to clear.
Made it on the flight and got a row to myself…it is the little things in life. However, I still did not get a shoulder strap for the seat belt that they have in business class. It is a really a funny thing that you get a bit more safety for all that money and that they highlight it in the safety video. Hopefully I make it to Rome with just this lap belt.
The safety video did make me think of the music Video for This Too Shall Pass by OK GO. The OK GO video is way better. This is one of the kiddos favorites and it always makes me smile.
With that, the plane is off to Rome and I will let you know how it goes.
