Osaka…delicious

January 11, 2024

We decided that the focus of Osaka was food and doing things. We signed up for some different tours and experiences and have been eating whatever we see.

As we walked around we saw this restaurant. We thought it was a subtle indication of what they serve.

Sometimes it is hard to determine what a restaurant serves if you do not speak Japanese but we figured this one out

We started at Teppanyaki Toyota for lunch and I enjoyed Sake paired with the food and tea for Owen. We had a sashimi course and then a wagyu beef course. Tomohiro talked us through the differences and preparation. The restaurant was just 4 or 5 seats. It was tiny and we were the only ones there. It was a cool time and we enjoyed some yummy food.

From there we wandered around and had some relaxing time before our tour in the evening. We did however see some more restaurants.

Takoyaki at this one perhaps?
I was excited to see if we could eat dragon at this one

In the evening we did a walking tour. It was a tour of the backstreets and some interesting parts. The tour anchored around Shinsekai. The area was designed to invoke a new modern world feel.

Looks like the Eiffel tower

We got to eat some different things and just enjoy exploring.

Shrine festival for good fortune in the new year
St. Louis University mascot or a god?

We came across the “god of how things ought to be” – Billiken. This was imported from America but is all of the district and around Osaka. Great to see we are all trading culture.

We wrapped the tour and headed back for some rest.
